Legal Senior Associate / Officer – Talent Pool

About the role

IDB Invest is creating a Talent Pool of qualified Legal Senior Associates and Officers to support its investment and financing activities across Latin America and the Caribbean. Members of the pool will be called upon to provide legal advice and transaction support for non‑sovereign guaranteed lending, guarantees, and technical cooperation projects.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal advice throughout the full lifecycle of NSG lending, guarantee and technical cooperation transactions, from origination to portfolio administration.
• Conduct due‑diligence, structure deals, negotiate terms, draft and review documentation, and oversee closing and disbursement.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective deal execution and compliance with applicable laws and institutional policies.
• Develop legal documentation, policies, and innovative legal solutions.
• Coordinate external counsel and stay informed of evolving legal and market trends.
• Support knowledge‑sharing and training initiatives within the organization.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Law (Juris Doctor, LL.M. or equivalent) from an accredited university.
• Admission to practice law in at least one IDB Invest member country.
• Solid understanding of both civil and common law systems.
• 3‑4 years of professional experience as an attorney.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written); Spanish, Portuguese or French are a plus.
