Legal Officer – Corporate & Infrastructure Finance

About the role

IDB Invest, the private‑sector arm of the Inter‑American Development Bank, is seeking a Legal Officer for its Corporate and Infrastructure Legal Division. The role supports non‑sovereign guaranteed (NSG) operations across the transaction lifecycle, from origination to portfolio management, within the Latin America and Caribbean region.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on origination, eligibility, due diligence, structuring, drafting, negotiation, documentation, closing and disbursement of NSG lending, guarantee and technical cooperation activities.
• Handle moderate to complex portfolio administration matters, including amendments, waivers, restructurings, workouts and litigation related to impaired assets.
• Coordinate with Investment Officers, Credit Risk, ESG, and Portfolio Management teams to ensure efficient deal execution and post‑deal monitoring.
• Support the drafting and regular updating of model financing documentation.
• Identify creative legal solutions for NSG operations of varying complexity.
• Collaborate with attorneys from other multilateral development institutions on complex legal issues.

Required profile

• Law degree with relevant experience in international finance, infrastructure, or corporate law.
• Demonstrated ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and manage complex transactions.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with attention to detail.

Required skills

• Legal drafting and negotiation of financing documents.
• Knowledge of NSG lending, guarantees, and technical cooperation frameworks.
• Familiarity with portfolio administration, restructurings, and litigation processes.
