Assistant/Associate Professor of Physiology

About the role

Ross University School of Medicine seeks a full‑time Assistant or Associate Professor in Medical Foundations (Physiology) to join its Barbados campus. The appointment will begin early in the January semester and will involve teaching, curriculum development, and scholarly activities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver engaging lectures, workshops, and case‑based learning sessions in physiology.
• Facilitate small‑group, problem‑based learning and provide individual academic support and mentoring to students.
• Prepare and evaluate course materials, NBME‑style questions, examinations, and other assessment tools.
• Participate in curriculum review, enhancement, and integration with departmental colleagues.
• Serve on faculty committees, contribute to institutional initiatives, and engage in professional development.
• Initiate and contribute to scholarly activities such as presentations, publications, and educational research.

Required profile

• PhD, MD, or equivalent doctoral degree.
• 2‑5 years of experience teaching physiology in a medical school curriculum.
• Demonstrated expertise in physiology, especially respiratory and renal physiology.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills.
• Commitment to student success and excellence in teaching.

Required skills

• Proficiency with instructional technologies and learning management systems (e.g., Zoom, InteDashboard, PointSolutions).
• Experience writing or reviewing NBME‑style assessment questions.
