Professor & Chair – Clinical Foundations

About the role

Ross University School of Medicine seeks a dynamic and collaborative physician educator to serve as Professor & Chair, Clinical Foundations. This senior academic leadership role provides strategic, academic, operational, and people leadership for the Clinical Foundations department, preparing medical students for clinical training and future practice.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the academic, administrative and operational functions of the Clinical Foundations department, ensuring excellence in curriculum planning, delivery and continuous improvement.
• Oversee clinical skills education, simulation‑based learning, standardized patient programs, patient‑centered communication and preparation for clinical training.
• Recruit, hire, develop and retain full‑time and sessional faculty, fostering an inclusive, high‑performing culture.
• Provide departmental oversight for simulation labs, OSCE preparation and ensure alignment with institutional policies and safety standards.
• Monitor student outcomes, address academic or professionalism concerns, and implement improvements to enhance learner success.

Required profile

• MD, MBBS or equivalent medical degree from an accredited institution; eligible for appointment at the rank of Full Professor.
• Current medical license in good standing and board certification through an ABMS‑recognized specialty board (or equivalent international credential).
• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in medical education or academic health sciences, including faculty supervision, budgeting and curriculum oversight.
• Demonstrated record of scholarly achievement, educational innovation and contributions to accreditation or institutional governance.
