Assistant Buyer

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Assistant Buyer to place merchandise orders with vendors, maintain optimal in‑stock levels for all active items, and eliminate overstocks. The role supports the buying team by coordinating paperwork, monitoring trends, and ensuring accurate cost data.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the flow of paperwork with IT, Operations, IDCs, Logistics, Compliance, and Accounting.
• Monitor seasonal trends and adjust orders accordingly.
• Collaborate with the Buyer to plan and execute seasonal merchandise calendars.
• Oversee off‑site storage inventories to boost productivity and reduce holding costs.
• Research and improve merchandise flow to IDCs and clubs.
• Continuously review merchandise categories, proposing SKU‑discipline changes.
• Update cost maintenance and propose price changes aligned with margin goals.
• Ensure accurate supplier cost entry in AS/400 and purchase orders to minimize billing discrepancies.

Required profile

• 1 year of assistant buying experience or 6 months with a BA/BS degree (preferred).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Motivation to learn product categories and international logistics.
• Strong organizational attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to travel as required and possess personal transportation.
