Pastry Chef / Baker

About the role

Ocean Hotels Barbados is seeking a skilled Pastry Chef to create high‑quality desserts and pastries across its food outlets. The role demands strict adherence to AAA Five‑Diamond standards, HACCP regulations, and a commitment to guest satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, organized kitchen and follow proper recycling and energy‑management procedures.
• Prepare desserts and pastries to order, ensuring correct temperature and presentation.
• Deliver In‑Room Dining orders within 30 minutes and be ready 30 minutes before any banquet service.
• Communicate with the Junior Sous Chef to meet quality, cost, and safety standards.
• Assist with inventory counts, control, and proper labeling of stored items.
• Respond flexibly to calls at any time, attend meetings, and support multiple outlets.
• Operate, clean, and maintain all kitchen equipment and machinery safely.

Required profile

• Secondary education and graduation from a culinary institution.
• Minimum 3 years of pastry experience in a AAA Four or Five‑Diamond hotel/restaurant, or 5 years in a high‑end bakery.
• Supervisory skills and strong client‑service orientation.
• Ability to produce gluten‑free, dairy‑free, and egg‑free items.
• Capability to work under pressure, unsupervised, and demonstrate sound judgment.
