Food & Beverage Houseman Supervisor

About the role

Ocean Hotels is looking for a Food & Beverage Houseman Supervisor to oversee the daily activities of the Houseman team. The supervisor ensures that restaurants, bars, equipment and work areas are kept to Ocean Hotels' standards, AAA Five Diamond requirements and Leading Quality Assurance (LQA) standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the Houseman team, assigning duties fairly and ensuring tasks are completed within set timelines.
• Inspect restaurants, bars, storerooms and Houseman quarters regularly for cleanliness, sanitation and presentation.
• Check that daily checklists are completed and signed off by the Restaurant Manager, and verify assigned tasks before each shift ends.
• Maintain restaurant and bar equipment, furniture and fixtures, and monitor stock of cleaning chemicals, linen and supplies, reporting shortages and damage to managers.
• Coordinate the collection and distribution of soiled linen to the laundry and the delivery of clean linen, and help with function setups and event breakdowns.
• Ensure staff follow health and safety, fire prevention and hygiene rules, and escalate safety concerns to management.
• Provide leadership and support in the absence of the Restaurant Supervisor or Restaurant Manager, and take part in training and performance appraisals.

Required profile

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a Houseman, Stewarding, Housekeeping or similar operational role in hospitality.
• Previous supervisory or team-leadership experience preferred.
• Ability to lead the team when the restaurant manager is absent and to escalate issues to them.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with guests and colleagues.
