Bar Supervisor

About the role

The Bar Supervisor at Ocean Hotels Barbados ensures that guests receive the highest quality service, helps run the bar operation smoothly and makes sure bar staff meet company standards, the AAA 5 Diamond standards and LQA Benchmarking standards. The role works closely with the Food and Beverage management team and reports to the Restaurant Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Keep the bar open on time, ready for service, clean and stocked, and ensure staff deliver excellent service
• Maximise sales and revenue, set and maintain department targets, and control wage costs in line with budget
• Manage the bar team: recruit, interview, coach, give feedback, run performance appraisals and handle disciplinary matters
• Organise training, identify training needs and organise on-the-job training
• Control stock, order supplies, prepare mise-en-place and keep stock within expiry dates
• Operate the hotel's POS system and other order-taking or inventory software
• Ensure compliance with fire, health and safety, licensing and employment laws, and with COVID-19 protocols
• Handle keys securely, compile rosters legally, and report cleanliness and maintenance issues to management
