Audit Staff - External Audit

About the role

EY Caribbean is hiring an Audit Staff member for its External Audit team, based in Barbados. You will help clients meet their reporting requirements by examining their financial statements objectively and independently, discussing accounting and reporting matters with management and giving audit committees a clear perspective. Selected candidates will work on various audit engagements across the Caribbean region, regardless of where they live.

Key responsibilities

• Identify potential audit issues or unusual relationships from basic analysis of the financial statements and communicate them to the team
• Document the execution of audit procedures clearly and accurately, according to engagement objectives, client history and the planned audit approach
• Challenge past procedures and seek to improve audit techniques
• Show professionalism and competence in the client's environment
• Maintain a strong client focus, respond to client requests and build productive working relationships with client personnel
• Stay informed of current business and economic developments relevant to the client
• Share ideas and opinions with the team, bring opportunities to the team's attention and use technology to learn and share knowledge

Required profile

• Undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting or another business-related subject, and/or currently enrolled in an accounting designation such as ACCA, CA or CPA
• At least 2-3 years of experience as an auditor at a public accounting firm; particular business or industry experience is considered an asset
• Dedication to teamwork and leadership, and integrity in a professional environment
