Assistant Restaurant Manager

About the role

The Assistant Restaurant Manager supports the management of restaurants, bars and room service at a Marriott Autograph Collection hotel in Paynes Bay, Barbados. The role covers day-to-day supervision of restaurant operations, staff supervision and guest service, and steps in for the Director of Restaurants or Restaurant Manager when absent.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise restaurant operations, assist with menu planning, maintain sanitation standards and help servers and hosts during peak meal periods
• Manage the restaurant team: handle employee questions, monitor performance, give feedback and supervise daily shifts
• Ensure staff have supplies, equipment and uniforms, communicate food quality and service issues to the chef and manager, and comply with policies and alcohol service laws
• Meet and greet guests, collect feedback, handle complaints and encourage excellent service
• Review comment cards and guest satisfaction results with employees
• Oversee training, coach and counsel employees and set performance expectations
• Open and close restaurant shifts and manage to budgeted goals

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED, or a 2-year degree in Food Service Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration or a related field
• 4 years of experience in food and beverage, culinary or a related profession, or 2 years with a degree
