Assistant Accountant

About the role

We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to support the Finance Department of SOL (BARBADOS) LTD in Spring Garden, St. Michael. The role focuses on day‑to‑day accounting tasks, ensuring timely and accurate financial records.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare bank, inventory and general‑ledger reconciliations.
• Assist in resolving discrepancies and outstanding account issues.
• Produce accounting reports and support month‑end closing procedures.
• Prepare cash‑flow projections and assist with the budgeting process.
• Perform accounts payable procedures and maintain proper filing of financial documents.
• Provide accounting assistance to team members and external auditors.
• Support health, safety and environmental compliance activities.

Required profile

• Associate or university degree in Accounting, or a recognized accounting qualification (ACCA, CGA, AAT) with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• Previous experience as an Assistant Accountant or in a similar role within the retail sector.
• Strong analytical mindset and commercial sense.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a customer‑focused attitude.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for generating and analysing accounting reports.
• Competent use of Microsoft Word.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Access (a plus).
• Familiarity with SOL suite of products and customer‑service management software.
