Accounting Assistant

About the role

Applications are invited for the temporary position of Accounting Assistant in the Finance Department at Sagicor Life Inc. The role involves generating accurate Capsil 5.1 and GIAS related payments, handling ACH payments and processing sundry expenses for multiple Caribbean territories.

Key responsibilities

• Produce Capsil & GIAS payments for Barbados, Grenada, St Lucia, St Vincent and act as backup for Antigua, Dominica, St Kitts.
• Generate, analyse and review ACH payments, upload files to online banking platforms and ensure authorisation.
• Process automated and manual cheque payments, verify large cheque requests and maintain cheque logs.
• Upload, post and reconcile sundry expenses in Sun systems for the territories.
• Perform weekly reconciliations between approved cheque sequences and printed cheques.
• Analyse general‑ledger accounts and assist with accrued expense files.
• Support testing of new cheque and ACH system functionality and assist with disaster‑recovery controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (BSc) plus six years’ experience in a similar accounting role.
• Strong mathematical and numerical abilities.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
• Good oral and written communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Previous experience in a financial services environment is an asset.
