Quantity Surveyor Internship

About the role

Join Aecon’s Civil East sector as a Quantity Surveyor Intern and work alongside experienced professionals to support project cost management and risk mitigation on complex infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with project development, aligning schedules and budgets with business expectations.
• Evaluate subcontractor quotes, review contract conditions, and help draft and negotiate contracts before tender.
• Process interim applications, variations, and payments, ensuring timely submission to clients.
• Collect records to verify additional payments and defend subcontractor claims.
• Participate in weekly financial forecasting and prepare cost estimates.

Required profile

• Currently enrolled in a Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or related construction program.
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings and contract documents.
• Self‑motivated with strong organizational and communication skills.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel as required.

Required skills

• Knowledge of contract language, terms, conditions and bonding.
• Understanding of job cost fundamentals and basic accounting/reporting principles.
