Cashier

About the role

The Cashier is responsible for accurately processing customer payments, providing courteous service at the cashier window, and ensuring all transactions comply with company policies and financial controls.

Key responsibilities

• Prepares daily reconciliations of deposit takings, petty cash, and bank deposits.
• Assists with processing online payments to customer accounts.
• Provides professional and courteous service to customers at the cashier window.
• Accurately calculates customer bills and processes payments.
• Receives and records cash, cheque, and credit card payments.
• Processes credit card authorisation forms and related transactions.
• Issues receipts and provides accurate change to customers.
• Addresses customer queries and refers complaints to appropriate personnel.
• Maintains accurate records and ensures all cashiering transactions follow established procedures.

Required profile

• At least two years’ experience in a similar capacity.
• Minimum five CXC-level passes, including Mathematics and English at Grade 1 or 2.
• Previous experience in a service industry is an asset.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, organisational and time‑management abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to handle cash and credit transactions accurately with high attention to detail.
• Self‑motivated, organised, detail‑oriented and a team player with a “roll‑up‑your‑sleeves” attitude.
