Temporary Chargeback & Fraud Officer (Financial Sector)

About the role

Our client, a leading financial services organization in Barbados, is seeking a detail‑oriented Chargeback & Fraud Officer on a 3‑6 month fixed‑term contract, with the possibility of conversion to a permanent position. The role supports the Card and E‑Services Operations team by managing card disputes, preventing fraud, and conducting transaction investigations.

Key responsibilities

• Resolve debit, POS and ATM disputes in a timely manner.
• Prepare and dispatch debit and credit advices to members.
• Examine and action both international and local card chargebacks.
• Post and file required journals, ensuring accurate posting to member and general ledger accounts.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to ATMs and POS terminals.
• Communicate investigation outcomes and queries with members, stakeholders, and branch offices.
• Monitor system performance, initiate remedial actions, and enforce record‑retention protocols.
• Continuously monitor and enhance fraud‑prevention mechanisms, escalating fraudulent transactions as needed.
• Stay up‑to‑date with policy, product, regulatory changes, and scheme updates through regular training.

Required profile

• Associate degree in Business, Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum two years of experience in a financial services environment handling chargebacks or fraud management.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with members, employees and management.
• Ability to manage multiple projects while balancing departmental and organizational demands.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel and Outlook.
