Social and Gender Safeguard Specialist - Part Time

About the role

AECOM is looking for an experienced Social and Gender Safeguard Specialist for a 24-month temporary contract supporting the South Coast Water Reclamation and Reuse Facility project in Christ Church, Barbados. The role provides field inspection, monitoring, auditing and documentation so that the contractor's operations align with the project's social and gender safeguards, its Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) and Code of Conduct. The expected schedule is 8 hours per day, with potential for extension.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise the contractor's day-to-day implementation of the ESMP, the contractor's ESMP and related social and gender plans
• Monitor social safeguards on site for worker welfare, accommodation standards, labour conditions, community safety, traffic risks and security conduct
• Identify emerging social risks, support incident investigations and action tracking, and maintain corrective action logs
• Support the Grievance Redress Mechanism and document community concerns, tracking timely resolution and feedback
• Monitor stakeholder engagement, community outreach, community health and safety measures, traffic management plans, gender inclusion commitments and GBV mitigation measures
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly monitoring report summaries for the client

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Social Science, gender studies or a related discipline
• 8+ years of field experience on infrastructure construction projects
• Experience implementing ESMPs in a construction environment
• Preferred: knowledge of local government requirements and multilateral development bank safeguards, excellent English, advanced Microsoft Office 365 skills, access to a vehicle
