Senior Plant Attendant - LPG Depot

About the role

SOL BARBADOS LTD is recruiting a Senior Plant Attendant for its LPG plant in Barbados. The post reports to the LPG Foreman and has no subordinates. Its purpose is to ensure the safe and efficient day-to-day running of the LPG plant, including a safe tanker discharge operation. Only current Sol staff or contractors are eligible; external applicants are not accepted.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a high level of safety awareness and report any issues to the Facility/Operations Supervisor or LPG Foreman, and know HSE policies and depot emergency response procedures.
• Dispose of product waste safely according to group standards, keeping records and forwarding them through the depot supervisor to central files.
• Check product storage vessels and equipment for leaks and keep the depot clean and free of oil.
• Carry out daily preventive maintenance on drains, sumps, pipelines, fire systems, depot pumps, forklifts and other equipment.
• Assist the LPG foreman in testing critical safety devices and pipelines, test the fire pump weekly, check fire extinguishers weekly and keep fire line integrity intact.
• Document daily plant start-up and shutdown, including calibration of filling scales.
• Take part in safety and toolbox meetings, tanker discharge operations, tank dips and draining, and monitoring of pipeline pressures during transfers.
• Assist with customer order dispatch, training sessions, emergency exercises and drills, and deputise for the LPG foreman when selected.

Required profile

• Secondary education with a technical college or institution qualification.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in an industrial facility.
• HSSE and emergency codes compliance.
• Computer literacy, mechanical and electrical aptitude, and the ability to plan and deliver results.
• Team player with excellent interpersonal relationships.
