Production Shift Manager (Manufacturing)

About the role

A client is looking for a Shift Manager to oversee daily production activities during an assigned shift. The postholder ensures production targets, product quality and operational standards are met, supervises production staff, promotes workplace safety and food hygiene, and coordinates with other departments for smooth operations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee production activities during the shift so that targets and performance standards are met.
• Supervise and motivate production employees, and monitor attendance, punctuality, performance and discipline.
• Ensure activities meet quality, safety, sanitation and food hygiene standards.
• Investigate and report production issues such as wastage, delays, process deviations and workplace incidents.
• Work with the Quality, Maintenance and Raw Materials teams to resolve operational issues.
• Monitor performance and prepare reports on key performance indicators.
• Assist with staff development, performance assessments and personnel allocation.
• Support health, safety and food safety programmes, and help with production planning, budgeting and other operational tasks.

Required profile

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Engineering or a related field.
• At least three years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work extended hours in a production environment with dust, noise and heat.

Required skills

• Sound knowledge of production operations, scheduling and manufacturing standards.
• Working knowledge of production scheduling software; experience with Microsoft AX is an asset.
• Knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures.
• Strong leadership, communication, analytical and time-management skills, with excellent attention to detail.
