Investment Associate - Financial Sector - Caribbean Region

About the role

IDB Invest, the private-sector arm of the Inter-American Development Bank Group, is looking for an Investment Associate to work in a Delivery Unit that reports to both the Financial Institutions Division and the Caribbean Division. The unit supports banks, microfinance and other non-bank financial institutions in high-development-impact transactions, and works on origination, structuring, negotiation and closing of deals.

Key responsibilities

• Support team leaders and project teams in origination, structuring, negotiation and closing of transactions with banks, microfinance and other non-bank financial institutions, and in relationship management of potential clients.
• Support project teams through the transaction approval process, coordinating with credit risk management, environmental and social safeguards, legal, mobilization and other internal units.
• Contribute to financial and risk analysis of potential clients and advise on the financial viability of projects.
• Participate in due diligence and carry out industry research on the financial sector.
• Negotiate transaction contracts and related legal documents with project teams.
• Prepare project-related presentations, reports, spreadsheets and memos with project teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Finance, Business Administration, International Development or another relevant field.
• At least two years of relevant experience as a financial analyst/associate or equivalent at a financial institution or consultancy firm.
• Proficiency in English; Spanish, French or Portuguese is a plus.
• Eligible to work in the job location without sponsorship.
• No close relatives (up to the fourth degree of kinship and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest or IDB Lab.
