Steward – Kitchen Cleaning & Sanitation

About the role

We are looking for a diligent Steward to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation in our kitchen at Ocean Hotels Barbados. The role involves supporting kitchen operations, ensuring all surfaces, equipment and utensils are properly cleaned and complying with HACCP regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Load, operate and monitor the dishwasher to ensure glassware, cutlery, pots, pans and utensils are cleaned and sanitized.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen walls, ice machines, equipment, drains and the kitchen yard.
• Sweep and mop kitchen floors and keep workstations tidy at all times.
• Follow the cleaning schedule and ensure all kitchen garbage is properly discarded.
• Set up and break down buffets and function areas efficiently and creatively.
• Ensure compliance with HACCP standards for sanitation throughout the kitchen.

Required profile

• Graduated secondary school; no prior experience required as training will be provided.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 60 lb and perform repetitive tasks.
• Positive attitude, professional appearance and ability to work shifts including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Strong attention to detail, time‑management skills and ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Hospitality mindset, reliability, flexibility and good interpersonal skills.
