Senior Student Development Advisor

About the role

Ross University School of Medicine (RUSM) is looking for a Senior Student Development Advisor in Bridgetown, Barbados. Reporting to the Assistant Dean, Student Affairs, the role leads student development initiatives that enhance the student experience and long-term success, working closely with faculty and staff in Barbados and abroad. It covers co-curricular programming, student personal and professional development, accountability and student wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and supervise student affairs projects and initiatives, including White Coat Ceremony, Friends and Family Weekend, Continuing Student Orientation, Student Ambassadors, campus visits, Faculty Mentoring, Journey to Medicine, Learning Communities and orientation sessions.
• Lead and support student development programming in the manager's absence, collect and assess data to improve quality, and manage student queries in Salesforce.
• Coordinate the use of Insight, the student advising and support database, and help manage the Financial Aid Appeal process.
• Oversee professionalism standards with the Office of Student Conduct, adjudicate conduct reports, run professionalism sessions, update the Student Handbook and advise the Grievance Committee and Student Honor Council.
• Eligibility checks for student leadership roles (Ambassadors, Honor Council, Peer Mentors, SGA) and hold students accountable for arrival and check-in processes.
• Support student emergency response, the Behavioral Intervention/Care Team and after-hours Student Affairs activities.

Required profile

• Master's degree, preferably in higher education administration, college personnel, human development, counseling or a closely related field.
• Background in medical education preferred.
• Good verbal and presentation skills, excellent computer skills and ability to work independently under pressure.
