About the role

Ocean Hotels Barbados is seeking a dedicated Pastry Cook to prepare high‑quality desserts and pastries across its food outlets. The role demands strict adherence to HACCP standards, flexibility to respond to hotel needs at any hour, and a commitment to delivering the AAA Five Diamond guest experience.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, organized kitchen and follow all safety and HACCP regulations.
• Prepare desserts, pastries, wedding and birthday cakes, and tea‑time items to the highest standards.
• Be ready 30 minutes before any banquet event and deliver in‑room dining orders within 30 minutes.
• Coordinate with the Junior Sous Chef to meet quality, cost, and menu requirements.
• Receive, check, label, and store food items; assist with inventory counts and controls.
• Log daily temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, and buffet foods.
• Operate and maintain all kitchen equipment and machinery safely.
• Practice proper recycling, energy management, and clean‑as‑you‑go procedures.

Required profile

• Secondary education required; culinary school certificate or degree is an asset.
• Minimum 2 years experience as a Commis Chef in a AAA Four/Five Diamond hotel or restaurant, or 8 years pastry experience in a high‑end fine‑dining establishment.
• Supervisory experience or training is a plus.
• Strong client‑service orientation and ability to work under pressure.
• Sound judgment and familiarity with kitchen terminology.
