Accounting Assistant

About the role

We are seeking an Accounting Assistant to join our finance team within Hipac Limited, a leading manufacturer and distributor of processed meat products. Reporting to the Accountant, you will support the preparation of management accounts and ensure the smooth operation of key accounting processes.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare reports for monthly Management Accounts.
• Maintain fixed‑asset records, including additions and disposals.
• Reconcile major Balance Sheet accounts on a monthly basis.
• Perform monthly expenditure variance analysis against budget.
• Execute daily bank reconciliations.
• Prepare audit schedules as required.
• Maintain Finished Goods and Work‑in‑Progress records.
• Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns.
• Act as primary backup for Accounting Clerks during absences.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Minimum three years of accounting experience.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication and time‑management abilities.
• Computer literate with experience using accounting software.
• One to two years of auditing experience is an asset.
