About the role

NTU International A/S is seeking a Senior Railways Specialist to provide technical, policy and investment support for railway projects worldwide, focusing on Sub‑Saharan Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean and Asia‑Pacific. The role will contribute to the Global Gateway Transport and Urban Facility 2 project, aiming to promote inclusive, smart, low‑carbon transport systems.

Key responsibilities

  • Identify, prepare and implement railway infrastructure and systems projects.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, technical assessments, project design reviews and investment analyses.
  • Support railway planning, corridor development, operations planning and multimodal integration.
  • Advise on rail infrastructure, signalling, interoperability, traffic management and safety systems.
  • Assist procurement, tendering, implementation supervision, and operation & maintenance planning.
  • Promote sustainable, low‑carbon and climate‑resilient railway solutions.
  • Facilitate adoption of European and international railway standards, including ERTMS.
  • Contribute to environmental and social assessments, climate resilience and sustainability considerations.
  • Support policy, regulatory and institutional reforms in the railway sector.
  • Provide capacity building and technical assistance to public authorities, infrastructure managers and operators.
  • Coordinate with public authorities, contractors, IFIs and development partners.

Required profile

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in railway engineering, civil engineering, transport engineering, transport operations or a closely related discipline.
  • Extensive knowledge of the railway sector, covering infrastructure, operations, interoperability and safety.
  • Experience with European and international railway standards and good practices.
  • Proven ability to work on large‑scale, multi‑regional projects.
