About the role
We are looking for an experienced and commercially‑minded Head of Human Resources & Culture to provide strategic leadership across the organisation’s people function. This senior role combines people strategy, culture, talent development, employee engagement, industrial relations and organisational transformation in a complex, multi‑entity environment.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute the People Strategy aligned with business objectives.
- Act as trusted adviser to senior leadership on workforce performance, talent risks, succession planning and culture.
- Lead the full employee lifecycle: talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, learning & development and succession planning.
- Build leadership capability and structured development plans for all employee levels.
- Establish and monitor HR metrics and KPIs to assess people initiatives.
- Design and run employee engagement, culture and retention programmes.
- Manage industrial and employee relations, including union negotiations, collective agreements, grievances and disciplinary matters.
- Ensure HR policies comply with employment legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Lead people and culture aspects of organisational change and transformation initiatives.
- Oversee people, training and governance dimensions of Health, Safety, Security & Environment (HSSE) and champion a strong safety culture.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Organisational Psychology or related field.
- Minimum 8 years progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in a senior HR leadership or functional‑head role.
- Proven experience managing industrial relations and union negotiations, preferably in manufacturing or a similarly complex operational environment.
- Demonstrated success developing organisation‑wide talent, culture and employee development programmes.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation and industrial relations practices within Barbados or the wider Caribbean.
- Ability to operate effectively within a structured governance and regulatory environment.
- Highly desirable: Master’s degree, senior HR certification (e.g., SHRM‑SCP, CIPD Level 7), multi‑entity HR leadership experience, exposure to executive compensation and senior‑level workforce reporting.
