About the role
The Communications Associate will support programme activities of the UNDP Barbados and Eastern Caribbean Multi‑Country Office. Working under the MCO Communications Analyst, the role focuses on positioning project objectives through mainstream, multimedia and social media channels.
Key responsibilities
- Draft and edit communication materials such as press releases, briefs and newsletters.
- Develop and implement advocacy and campaign content for project activities.
- Coordinate press launches and media outreach for programme events.
- Manage social‑media platforms to promote project outcomes and engage stakeholders.
- Collaborate with project teams and external partners to ensure consistent messaging.
Required profile
- University degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field.
- Relevant experience in media relations, advocacy or campaign development, preferably in an international development context.
- Strong writing and editing skills in English.
- Ability to work under supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Required skills
- Proficiency with social media platforms (e.g., Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn).
