About the role

The Digital News Editor leads the editorial team at Barbados Today, overseeing the digital news operation across the website, app, e‑paper and social platforms. Reporting to the Executive Chairman, you will drive strategic growth, ensure timely, accurate content delivery and uphold editorial excellence in a fast‑paced, digital‑first environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate daily news coverage for web, e‑paper and social channels, assigning stories and multimedia packages to meet traffic and growth KPIs.
• Write, edit and publish articles, videos and graphics, ensuring accuracy, compelling headlines and platform‑specific optimisation.
• Curate the homepage and “Today’s News” sections, updating content throughout the day.
• Collaborate with the social media team to adapt stories for Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, TikTok, WhatsApp and other channels.
• Work with multimedia journalists and production staff on audio and video news packages.
• Manage editorial calendars, budgets and performance analytics.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of journalism experience with a focus on digital news production and editorial management.
• Proven ability to lead a newsroom in a deadline‑driven environment.
• Strong editorial judgment, excellent writing and editing skills, and a commitment to journalistic ethics.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
